2020 Souper Bowl of Caring

This Saturday February 1, and Sunday February 2 the Holy Trinity youth will be collecting cash and food donations for our annual campaign to fight hunger. Remember to place the cash or food item in the bin of the football team that you are cheering for in this year’s Super Bowl.

The Souper Bowl of Caring is a nationwide  movement utilizing energy and enthusiasm of the Super Bowl to mobilize youth to tackle hunger in their local communities.  The Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 with a simple prayer said by Reverend Brad Smith at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina:

Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.[2]

The first year saw 22 churches raise $5,700. The number of groups involved has steadily grown since.
