Original Rendering of new parish hall
Visionary Team Update Report
February 9, 2017
The Visionary Team has been meeting for over 1 year now in our effort to remodel and enlarge our church facilities. As you have previously heard, we were asked to develop a plan to traditionalize our church, add more classrooms and a larger parish hall. We initially targeted a budget of $1 million to get the job done.
I am pleased to report that we have nearly completed the design phase of our work under the direction of our architect Scott Martsolf. We will be remodeling our church space to add pews with kneelers and are making a number of changes to the altar area, west entrance, and kitchen access. We are also planning to remodel the current parish hall into 5 classrooms, a nursery, and 2 offices. Finally, we are planning a new parish hall on the east side of the church.
We have previously presented renderings of the new parish hall that would be about 3000 square feet in size. We had to modify the original design because we could not attach the new hall to the existing structure without installing fire suppression sprinklers in the entire facility. In order to avoid that expense, we must build a free standing parish hall that is 30 feet from our existing structure. The 30 foot space between the two structures will become our new outdoor courtyard and we will not be building the outdoor porch on the east side of the new parish hall that was displayed in our original design.
A number of parishioners have asked what will the church look like when the remodeling is finished. We have a new rendering that shows what the church will look like after remodeling. The new pews have been ordered and a down payment has been made. We think that it will be a major improvement over our current worship space.
We are currently finishing the documents required to bid the project. We have identified three different general contractors that have met our architect on site and have presented preliminary cost estimates. We will meet with the Building Commission at the Diocese on February 16th to seek approval for the bidding process. We plan to begin construction this spring.
Our Gather and Grow Capital Campaign is still in progress and we are making good progress towards meeting our goal. The following is a summary of our Campaign:
|Savings & Loan Accts||333,143.78|
|Total Cash Available||528,800.31|
|Total Cash and Pledges Receivables||732,413.83|
|Expected G&G Project Cost||1,000,000.00|
We have recently added a Spanish mass at 11 am that has dramatically increased Sunday mass attendance. We will be presenting our Gather and Grow Capital Campaign to the Spanish mass in the near future.
If you have not contributed to the Campaign, we ask that you will prayerfully consider a donation.
